Makeup Wars are some of my favorite posts. I've learned that the first thing everyone wants to know when they find out I'm a beauty blogger is what my favorite "anything" is. Mascara is one of the ones I'm asked about most often.
I love mascaras. I probably own forty of them right now* They're Real by Benefit, Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes, Mally's Volumizing and Diorshow New Look all rank high among my all time favorites.
I also love the look of layering mascaras. If you don't already do this, you should give it a try. Layer a good foundation-setting mascara on the bottom, like bareMinerals' Flawless Definition. Then go for the wow factor with something like Mally Volumizing on top. People will wonder how you got those lashes!
Alas, makeup wars isn't about tricks and layering. It's about picking my current favorite and saying that it is better than whatever Pink Sith picked out**. So for that, I'm going with one that is new to me, but already beloved: Eyes to Kill Stretch Lengthening Mascara by Armani.
(My lashes before bed one night last week and then this morning, after applying Eyes To Kill. If I ever doubt what a good concealer can do, I'll just look back at this comparison. Yeesh. )
This somewhat pricey mascara gives you realistically long lashes, with added volume that looks like lash extensions. This is all without a primer and without layering. They aren't spidery, they aren't fat and the lashes don't flake or smudge. Just long, buildable, luscious length. I. Love. It. Your lashes will look like you were born with amazing fringe, not like you are wearing six coats of somethingorother. Just pretty, natural, supermodel lashes.

ReplyDeleteNext time Nordstrom has that buy 2 get 1 I'm going Armani. I love Eyes to Kill and I'd love to try the stretch now. I like how this looks on you.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try Armani mascara, probably because I don't have an Armani counter near me. I should mail order it sometime!
